Chase Dreams
Chase dreams are those dreams in which a person is either running
towards something or running away from something. Chase dreams
are those images that occur due to feelings of anxiousness and
pressure in a person's real life. These feelings then acts out
in the form of chase dreams. More than 80-percent of people suffer
from "chase dreams" at some point in their lives.
Chase dreams are in a sense then universal. We all know that
we run instinctively whenever we are threatened or alarmed by
anything. The first instinct that comes to us is to run. These
chase dream scenarios often revolve around circumstances like
this when you find a person running behind you trying to hurt
you or kill you. Most of the time you would find yourself either
trying to run, or hide somewhere or find out various techniques
to dodge your pursuer.
According to psychologists, these chase dreams are considered to
be an imaginary manifestation of how a person deals with his stress,
fears, doubts and similar such circumstances. You might be trying
to run away from the situation or trying to avoid something unpleasant.
Sometimes the attacker may be a part of one's own self. It might
be a representation of a feeling like jealously, anger, love, fear,
hatred that takes this threatening shape. Sometimes you might find
yourself not being able to run. This symbolizes that sooner or later
you would have to face the problem from which you are running.
Another reason why you might have chase dreams is because you may
have the fear of being attacked. Such people are usually found to
be too physically or emotionally drained to fight back the complexities
of the society. This could also result if one watches the violence,
sexual assault and terror that the media portrays or has experienced
this in real life.
On the other hand, if you are being chased, you might be trying
to remove or overcome something from your life. Or, you might just
be having the fear of not being able to accomplish something important.
What should you ask yourself?
1. If you are having chase dreams ask yourself how significant
the chase is. Does it really convey or interpret anything significant
in your life?
2. Do they represent any part of your life or any circumstances
in your life?
3. Are you the only one in the dream?
4. What kind of emotion do you have when you have these chase dreams?
5. Are you the one chasing someone or are you being chased by someone?
6. Do you win the chase or does the chase end abruptly?
What should you do?
So, the next time you're having chase dreams try to turn around
and face the pursuer. Gather yourself and ask why the person is
following you. If necessary wrestle with the chaser, and uncover
the chaser. The chaser might hold the key to your unknown fears
and one might find that it has not been as scary as one had thought
it to be.
One another thing you could try doing is writing the chase dreams
down and change the ending of the scenario. And this time you could
write about facing the person or thing. Imagine and then change
the monster into something less frightening like a cat or a puppy.
